What is Cashmere?
Cashmere wool is a luxurious and sought-after type of wool that comes from the cashmere goat (Capra hircus). These goats have been bred in regions such as Kashmir in India, Tibet, Mongolia, China, Iran and Afghanistan for centuries.
The Kashmir goat is known for its fine, soft undercoat that protects it from the harsh winters of the Himalayan mountains. This undercoat is called cashmere wool or pashmina and makes up only a small part of the goat's total wool production. It is this fine wool that is so sought after because of its softness, light weight and thermal insulation properties.
The process of collecting cashmere wool is painstaking and demanding. It typically occurs in the spring when the goats naturally shed their winter wool. Shepherds collect the shed wool by brushing or combing the goats, separating the fine undercoat from the coarser outer coat. After collection, the wool is sorted by quality and color, as the quality of cashmere wool can vary depending on the age, health, and nutrition of the goat.

Bring nature into your home
After sorting, the cashmere wool is washed and then spun into yarn, which is used to weave various textiles such as scarves, shawls, sweaters and blankets. The production of cashmere textiles requires expertise and care to preserve the wool's natural properties and softness.
Due to the intensive process of collecting and processing cashmere wool, as well as the limited quantity that can be produced from each goat, cashmere products are often expensive and considered a luxury item. However, the unique softness and warmth that cashmere wool offers makes it a popular choice in the fashion world for those seeking both comfort and style.
